You mostly even learn about UK's literature, so it's weird you're not more knowlegable of at least Europe
World geography is essential to a good education. I understand the US is vast enough that most Americans won't feel the need to learn a new language or ever even travel outside their country, but it creates this bubble and unawareness from the actual world
