Art design does. The polygon count on those models looks identical, the difference is all texture work and lighting (the latter of which can admittedly be taxing on graphics processing even when done efficiently).

This. I don’t like the realistic looking sheen. I would much prefer a traditional, bold, cel shading style like Ni No Kuni or Persona 5 or something. Bold outlines, saturated clean art, really comic-looking. Realism ages poorly, which is why SV already looks a decade old.
