I played this shit 3 weeks after it's release
because I didn't think it was going to be really worth my time and when I finally played it a few days ago I was surprised at how good it actually is. Definitely feels like beta testing for SV, seeing as how it looks like SV is going to have all the same "real time" catching/battling mechanics, and presumably more polish as it's Gen 9.

A test to see if the shakeup in the formula is well received and what they do with the next game will reflect on whatever happens.

Low behold it was well received and within a month we have mainline games announced and it's using the Arceus engine. I'm willing to bet they have a version what uses the shit from SwSh that would have been showcased instead if Arceus was hated.

I'm half convinced that PLA was damage control. Ishihara thought the Switch was going to fail, and that nobody would play complex portable games when they had a smartphone. Then BotW blew people away, and this game clearly wants ape that style to play catch up instead of being another traditional Pokemon game.

It was the first half of gen 9. I don't know why most people denied this, it's even more evident than ever with the ScaVio trailer. Mostly a beta test, as many said, and a small single player bone to throw to the audience... though I think it's absurd that we are getting so many mainline games in such a short time period.

Yes it's only jarring in buildings. You notice it much more due to the more focused view. I found it often when looking into rooms which had mons in from the hall
