Gamefreak is rather incompetent and the TCPi release mandates strangle what little talent they have resulting in some truly ugly and lazy graphics. I'm not defending mainline Pokemons abysmal graphics or presentation. BUT
Rail shooters as a genre are pretty much hand tailored to be the best genre for fudging much better graphics than hardware is typically capable of. No other genre has the sheer level of guarantee on where a player and all the actors will choose to go in an environment. Even stuff that has to be fully modeled and detailed in the most linear of games can be skipped here, literally anything that exists outside of your intended vision doesn't exist. It either actually disappears or drops off to no textures and 3 polygons. Areas you're heading to can be loaded right as you turn the curve and areas you've passed can be unloaded safe in the knowledge you cannot double back. It's the only genre on earth where you can spend 100% of the processing power of the console with what is actively being interacted with by the player.
New Snap is an 11/10 game and one of the best rail shooters but I'm sick of retards acting like it's an achievable metric for switch hardware based mainline Pokemon game.
