if you are referring to raikou, it’s a tiger and based on raiju which take the forms of various animals
if you are referring to luxray, it’s a lynx and refers to the myth that they can see through walls (x ray)

The only thing against the pepper theory is that there is absolute zero chance for it to get the Fire/Grass typing right? None of the starters have ever gotten a starter type as a secondary type. If it is a ghost pepper I guess Ghost is a more likely second type. But damn passing up on the pepper opportunity...

maybe the gimmick will be switching out for a different type or getting type advantage for moves your mon doesnt match, temporarily, and the starters are there to teach it.

if it's Fire/Grass then they'd probably go with that theming for all of them, which seems unlikely based on their designs so far. the cat is probably Grass/Fairy or possibly Psychic, based on its eyes and its name. the duck might just be Water/Flying. maybe the croc will just be Fire/Dragon.

I think it looks plain but I accept catnip as an excuse to make a grass cat pokemon. most other grass types, especially starters, I wish were just plants though, with or without a face.

Yeah, because children are going to prefer a plant starter instead of an animal with grass themes. There's a reason why Oddish, Sunkern or Petilil lines don't feel like starters. It's the same reason they don't make a Water-type fish starter

That's not an argument, if GF want to make a fire/grass starter there is nothing preventing them to do it. It's unlikely but possible. Remember how people said "there is no way Gen 6 won't get a third version" or "there is no way we get 3 fire/fighting starter in a row", it never happened until it happens.

Depending on its nature or the Wurmple's bullshit it will evolve into a spicy or a not-spicy form, just like Padrón peppers. Some are hot, others not.

Casual reminder that since Gen III every final stage Fire starter has been an explicit reference to a media property and Fuecoco will be no different.

Blaziken was Chicken Joe Higashi
Infernape was Son Goku
Emboar was Zhang Fei + Piggy
Delphox was Bandora/Rita
Incineroar was Tiger Mask + Steel Jeeg
Cinderace was an Inazuma Eleven character whose name escapes me

The croc's final stage will have some series/game it takes inspiration from.
