When I wasn't shiny hunting I'd frequently tune into buzznav and listen in on the wacky shit other players were getting into. A bit repetitive, but the fact it was actual events from actual people made it feel a lot more alive and SOULful

gen 6 has a thing where if u havent been to an area in a while or a new area, and thers pokes u still havent caught yet, the first poke u encounter or hidden encounter is a new poke, so at min u can catch the new mon u havent got each day
