I do genuinely believe that adult men (and women, to a lesser degree. The way we socialise women and what we consider acceptable for them to enjoy does play a role here) with interests in children's media, anime, etc., are statistically more likely to be pedos than your average bloke who'd rather be in his garage, but nowhere near as significantly as what I've claimed to push some buttons-- garage bloke has a decent chance of being a nonce too. And more so with those who are obsessive with this kind of media than those with a casual interest. I think a lot of these kinda pedos are people who justify it as 'missed experiences' in their youth that they now deserve to reclaim, those who feel that they're on the same level of mental maturity as a child (though it's nearly always phrased as the child being mature for their age, really nasty stuff), and those who simply cannot date within their own age group as anyone with experience as an adult knows to steer clear of the steaming trash heap of red flags that is that kinda person, but children who think the pinnacle of coolness is something as simple as living out of home and owning a car make easy targets.
I wish you the best anon. I think the best advice I can offer re: your parents helping with your children is to examine your own childhood and question whether that's an experience you'd want another developing human to have.
