Related to Pokemon 2000, i end up arguing from time to time with people who don't think the Orange Islands "aren't canon". What's amusing is that they're the only "filler" that's been in the anime, been in a movie, and referenced in a game (LGFR).
It's a real nice movie for sure though, I always loved the gentle fantasy edge to it.

I think the problem with the orange island arc was the weird not gym challenge and the fact that they brought back Brock as a main cast when Johto launched.
The whole thing just felt like I was waiting for something, but I didn't know what at the time.
I rewatched the entire show back in 2014 and found Tracy to be a lot more enjoyable than he seemed when I was a kid.
