probably something about whatever that "new evolutionary step" line is about. potentially some mid-battle transformation again? maybe going between forms? i dunno, but it reminds me of seviper's gold patterns lol

on that subject, i think it's fun that zangoose and seviper will end up in Scarlet and Violet respectively, since their scars sorta match the version color

it has to do with the plot and box legendaries. the gimmick this time around is playing around with typings. changing back and forth, combining etc. they are trying to make the battle mechanics less "rock paper scissors" and something more dynamic.

I heard some others talking about stat change due to it being just six spikes like in the resume, but that's just cringe.
Only way that shit could work is with something similar to the Flipped OM (like you can switch your HP stat for Speed outside of battle)
But it's dumb, it doesn't give them new designs to merch, what even IS the point.

Type change would be really interesting.
We know the mechanic exists now with Arceus' new plate in PLA that makes its type always super effective against the opponent (i think maybe Hidden Power does too in PLA?)

So the game can run a quick check on type, make you super effective against it (like a Delta Species) and then deal massive damage.

Guarantee there's some twist with that and the gym leaders so its not ultra OP. Or maybe you have to beat that respective type leader to earn their power

No gimmick. It's just a compass rose to emphasize the open world aspect of the game. As for battle adjustments we might get triples/rotation and megas back.

You gain a different type when you use the move Revelation Power

If you are a grass/poison holding a Dragon crystal you become a pure dragon type after use the move Revelation Power, the move type is already the same of the crystal

If you dont use the move in a battle you just stay in your original type (s)

In someway this replaces Hidden Power.

Revelation Power is 90 base power, 100% acc and 10 PP, physical or special depends on your higher stat

You gain the crystals in Gyms and quests from NPCs, Professor Orquid gives you the Normal crystal

Because they potentially change the type and ability of a pokemon while G-max forms do not, making seperate sorting necessary. What did you expect them to put in Home for Z-moves, a button to play the animation?

This would be cool if the first time you use Revelation Power in battle, it has the same added effect as Max Moves. So Dragon type Revelation Power would drop opponent's attack by 1 stage. Then you can use Revelation Power again, without the stat drop, until you switch out and switch back in.

Nothing. Gen 9's Gimmick is Charizardification. Every Pokémon can transform into Charizard via a Charidific talisment.
If Charizard is using Charizardification, it will instead becomes Origin Charizard, the real God of Pokémon, or should i say, Charimon.

The point is Megas are distinguished from them. If there were such a thing as "generational gimmicks" then there would be an identifier for that that would include Gigantamax and Ultra Necrozma.
XYORAS and USUM prove that the thing on the icon doesn't necessarily mean new nuke gimmick.

Idk about new gimmicks but I hope they bring back some form of Amie to lock the top portion of friendship behind it again so I don't have to abuse my Pokemon like in BDSP to have them not pulling anime bullshit like recovering from status effects and dodging moves with 100% accuracy.

I can see this. Gf loves to remove stuff for a bit then re add them later with a twist. The bike came back in gen 8, soaring in Arceus. They can tweak megas a bit to make it feel like something fresh.
