at no point between those two statements was he ever a falangist, in fact throughout the war he constantly he checked their power on multiple occasions, preventing them becoming more powerful than the other factions and threatening his position.

I don't get it either. "Real Communism has never been tried" makes sense because Communist governments shit themselves and starve everyone to death everywhere they pop up, but Fascism works great and it's bizarre to try and distance yourself from success.

Its strange but in most cases (chile is going this way) after the fascist regime ends there is still resentment and a need for freedom from conservativism and that brings society back printer go brrr brrr making everything shit again. Theres also some cases were fascist regimes didn't work like argentina but thats another story (cause they had fascism even before dictatorships and their idol had a lot of power).

Argentina flopped mainly because they tried to play expansionist long before they had the economic stability to do so. Trying to annex the Falklands and then running the money printers to try and finance it was a spectacular Own Goal. He should’ve just focused on internal politics and economics.

They were just another cog in the Franco machine along with the various other factions under the nationalist banner.
