The game doesn't require big grinding, and, if you treat it like a typical Pokemon adventure and don't go nuts in the Wild Area, you'll find a relatively decent challenge. You can do a lot of team building without worrying about being massively under leveled thanks to the exp Share and how it's tuned. Wild Area Pokemon/Wild Pokemon in general are well adjusted for your given story progression, and are easily integratable to your teams without having to grind them up to par.
It's a good time as far as I'm concerned, though your mileage may vary depending on your interests and biases.
