one of my favorite tips is to eat any food or consumables you find directly off the floor if your inventory is full. things like seeds, berries, etc restore your belly by about 5 points at minimum, which doesn't seem like much but it adds up if you do it whenever you find items you don't plan on taking with you. this way you can save your apples for emergencies only.
