Honestly after thinking about it, there are a lot of gen 1 pokemon I have never had any desire to use, mostly water types. This guy, Dewgong, Seaking, Poliwrath, Kingler, Seadra (and Kingdra by extension), all of them just there to catch and box.

Just used my LV. 100 Parasect today to S.O.S. chain for a HA Munchlax.

The entirety of Gen 8 at this point. I own a copy of each Switch game, but can't seem to bring myself to leave S/M/US/UM behind.

I looked at the pokedex entries and all it said was the bug was "mostly dead" and would stop moving if the mushroom was gone. If it was actually dead, losing the bug typing would be fitting.

Dexfiller implies it's just some random mon you can catch mid-late game that's not useful because that niche on your team is already filled.
Lickitung is an out of the way, one of a kind in gen 1 bulky Normal with a unique design, aside from the colouring.
It's literally anti-dexfiller.

It's a fat, doofy chameleon with its extendable tongue taken to an extreme for the sake of monster design.
If it weren't pink, it wouldn't be compared to the other blobs outside of being a gen 1 Normal type.

Honestly, it's shiny should have been its base colours.
Hell, I'd even take sickly Espeon green.

Thing is, drifloon doesn't spam supersonic and outspeed an unusually high amount of pokemon, preventing you from running away like in alola. Worse still is wingull's hideous evolution which spams supersonic and protect and clearly some dev has a hardon for it because it's been in every game since gen 3 and got kyogre's ability for literally no reason.

It's my theory that they cut Golduck's psychic typing in development because Gen 1 already had both Starmie and Slowbro and just an overabundance of Psychic types in general. We already know they sometimes alter types for the purpose of balancing out the dex (Jellicent was originally pure Water and Ghost got added later because Unova didn't have enough Ghosts).
