Birds have scales (not only on their feet, feathers are just really complexly shaped scales essentially), birds lay eggs, beaks have evolved in reptiles a bunch (turtles, triceratops, birds).
A basic adult understanding of dinosaurs makes birds and reptiles inseperable.
