If I'm intentionally playing with my favourites and avoiding teambuilding autism then I would have these other way around. The in game campaign is so easy that you don't need to concern yourself too much with type as long as you have decent coverage, so I'm going to prioritize playing with my favourite Pokémon even if it means I have an unbalanced team. However, for the same reason I'm going to make the effort to get the best version of them I can catch simply because they're my favourite Pokémon and I want to make that effort for them.
