I think it's interesting how Sara Bon has become the most popular fan artist for Journeys, or at least SatoGou. Even the Japanese fandom follows her. I don't think I've ever seen this happen in any other anime. And I'm not saying this is a bad thing—her art is great! Just very interesting how it came to be.

Same. I've always wanted to series to go back to feeling like one big interconnected world I stead feeling isolated every season like XY and SM did. I kind of hope the next season keeps a similar format but has an expanded cast and we get episodes on them sort of like in chronicles

Yeah, 90% of the returning characters would have never happened if this series was focused on Galar exclusively for example. We probably would have still seen Dawn due to the DP remakes but that probably would have been it. I don't even think Gary would have been bought back.

Nah, Ash pre-nerf was a monster but still a kid so his reach would be limited.

I'd put Alder above everyone in raw strenght, Lance as second since he's a secret cop and Kukui third since he's a wrestler.

Iris is probably the fastest tho, she's even faster than Ash who can be pretty fucking fast when needed.

I'm so happy that Paul is back, but I feel like I'm still setting myself up to get disappointed. Part of his appeal was how he could massively switch his team up. I wanna see his heavy hitters like Torterra, Electivire, Ursaring, but I also want to see him with new Pokemon as he should have. But he'd have to have a 6v6 for that, and if he's really the last match before Masters 8, and that's all, then that seems unlikely. I guess I'll just have to try and appreciate whatever we do get, as long as they try to respect his character.

Nah, the interactions between characters was lackluster at best. Everyone just sucked Ash's dick and barely interacted among themselves, especially Serena and Clemont, then Ash's and Clemont's friendship was more like a sports jock and his nerd friend instead of equals.

I quite enjoyed the Bonnie/Clemont dynamic, Bonnie's admiration of both Ash and Serena, and Ash and Clemont's brotherly bond which IMO is better than Ash/Go's now. I can see how Serena isn't for everyone so I won't bother going into detail there, but I think they were handled alright.

IMO the only two I think are "obligated" to appear are Torterra and Ursaluna. The former was his starter, and Ash only ever got to battle it proper one time at Lake Verity, and it didn't feel like it really went all out. The latter because you know why. Ursaring was already a fucking rape machine, who knows how strong it'd be as an Ursaluna.

If it's a 3v3, I think those 2 plus a new Pokemon makes sense.

If it's 6v6, maybe having Drapion or Electivire appear again is a maybe, but I think a bunch of new Pokemon instead would work too.

Every group dynamic has it's problems though. The DP trio had Brock as a third wheel most of the time, the AG cast didn't treat Max or Brock too well, even the SM cast was too bloated at times.

I don't know why people are so hard on the XY cast when the same problems can be found in every other group.

Team Flare arc was much better than the game version and the best villain team arc to date.

Ash's Pokemon had the usual personalities his team has, with Hawlucha being the obvious standout. But Goodra and Noibat had good personalities too. Froakie before it evolved was fine. Serena's team had fun personalities all around as did Clemont's Pokemon.

Probably because they're a business anon and sales actually do determine a pretty hefty portion of business decisions. With that said, Japan is a strange outlier in some cases because of how insanely autistic and vocal their fanbases are over things. It's exactly why Gohan was never the protagonist in Dragon Ball because they scream and cried to bring back Goku, as they would do with Ash.

Now look at Goku, a fucking dipshit of a character who always wins and saves the day, with no real consequences whatsoever. That is the part we are it with Pokemon, especially if Ash beats Leon. Ash catching Dracovish is fine. Dracovish literally only showing up one time so far not so much.

That's the weakest point of JN IMO. In every other series you had the Pokemon sitting around and they would all each lunch together in the background or something. I get that that's not proper character development, but it still gives that impression that they're all travelling together. They need to think of more ways to integrate Ash's current team to their filler episodes if they want to keep this (as in, the travelling around the whole world thing) as the new status quo.

Dracovish has gotten a ton of filler appearances. In fact, I think it's probably shown up in the most non-PWC episodes of his new captures bar Lucario. He's busted it out to help with Project Mew like three times

I wish journeys would fully embrace the continuity like bring back some old filler tournaments like the water one or some of the flying competitions. Actually why didn’t they use that for some of the rank matches ash was doing like themed matches or only certain types so he can bring in an old Pokémon and Goh could learn about it.

My only concern with over a little over 30 weeks left they may not have time for everything in the opening. I only hope the show really doesn't end in November. For example the Dawn scene seems to take place around Christmas time since it's in Snowpoint again, that ep should air in December after the new games come out.

This guy gets it. A lot of these long running series have jumping on/off points, even Pokemon. There's a reason we hear so often in this thread and elsewhere, people stopped watching after:
>Ash lost at Indigo
>Ash won at Orange
>Ash beat Gary
>Diamond and Pearl ended
>XY ended
Digimon didn't have a proper anchor for the franchise. For Pokemon it's the mainline games. Yugioh chugs along mostly fine as well, it replaces the protagonists a lot but it's anchored by the card game.

Not to say there isn't an advantage to keeping Ash around, but I don't think it's as big an effect as people like to say.

I think I might make an edit of Pokemon Journeys that completely censors Goh out from every scene. Whenever he talks I'll just replace it with the sound of waves, and whenever he has a scene, I'll just zoom in on Ash and see what he's doing instead. Would anybody be interested in watching that? I seriously doubt it. There's so many actual recognizable characters they could use to fill out the time left before Gen 9, I don't think they're going to waste their time with someone who was basically a glorified COTD. It would be like if in that Ditto episode they had Duplica. They wouldn't have needed to change that much about the episode to make that work, but there's no reason to weigh down episodes with the burden of random one shot characters from over a decade ago.

XY Ash broke through a metal cage. SM Ash was pretty strong. He sent Faba flying in one hit, and he was able to no sell Rockruff's attacks during their training. And in the latter, the SM gang was surprised to see him just tank a pokemon's attacks. PM Ash doesn't look like he's been nerfed. He was able to see that rock flying in the archeologist episode, and in the latest episode he was able to climb up that little mountain that had the nest. In the Zapdos episode, he did send Team Rocket flying offscreen while he wasn't with Pikachu. Team Rocket's dialogue kinda implied that he may not have used any pokemon to beat them since they were surprised.

I wouldn't say Ash was nerfed, but he hasn't had as much chances to show off his physical abilities like before. Team Rocket used to be a lot more hardcore back then since they used to try to kill Ash, and they weren't shy of using weapons like tanks and guns. Kanto itself was a much shittier region than anything else whereas each region afterwards would become friendlier and friendlier. On top of that, Team Rocket has mellowed out by a lot. These factors places Ash in less situations where he can't rely on his pokemon.

Leon's team is a good though. And the reason why they keep shilling him is because he's going to lose to Ash. After the reaction to Ash winning the SM league, they'll probably want to make even bigger waves by having Ash beat "THE BESTEST TRAINER EVAR." Also, the recent episode raised a lot of loser-flags for Leon. The guy WANTS to lose.

I still think he's the true champion of Kanto since Lance isn't the champion of Kanto anymore. Plus, he has a fucking Tyranitar. You mean to tell me his team's getting a big upgrade just for Project Mew? Not only that, but they made Iris a champion. If Iris can become a champion in the period between BW and PM then Gary could do the same between the larger time frame between DP and PM. It also feels like they're trying to bring the anime closer to the games lore which is why Lance is just an E4 member and why Iris is the Unova champion.

Volkner showed that those feelings are just temporary. A battle autist will always be a battle autist. Also, Gary himself said that he doesn't want to fall behind Ash. Gary becoming the Kanto champion could be a response to Ash winning the Alola league.

He'll get his time to shine after Greninja gets his arc. Almost everything in pic related has appeared or will appear, and that includes the Regigigas and Greninja. Greninja will probably battle the Zeraora that's near Lumiose Tower since he's the only ace who hasn't battled a mythical or legendary.
However, you can see that in Kanto section there's a Charizard carrying a Charmander. That's probably Ash's Charizard since he's positioned above the Vermilion City lab. As for the Charmander, Leon does give the player a Charmander egg. Chances are that we'll get an episode or mini-arc where Ash and Charizard have to raise a Charmander.
