I know a lot of people on /vp/ don’t like them, but I really hope the Gen 8 starters make it into Scarlet and Violet. Particularly the Scorbunny line feels like it really belongs in a Spain-based region (same passion for football as UK)

I cannot imagine they won't be considering it just makes logical sense to carry over any "major mons" to shill home.
Unless they legitimately forgot sword the starters and covers will probably make it like they did in sword itself.

I imagine they will, all the Alola starters got in to base Sword/Shield which couldn't even be said for all the Kanto starters, so I think they'll prioritize having the previous gen's starters in new games going forward

I really hope so, especially since SwSh wasn't too long ago and it had the Alola starters. I honestly hope all the starters make the cut because it felt awkward that some were just left out from SwSh.

Personally I feel that if the dexcut is going to be permanent then they should make all starters be included in every mainline game at a minimum.

But I doubt that will happen, so I’m just hoping that gens 8, 6 and 2 all make it to ScaVio

Yeah it just seems odd that of all the Pokemon, they want to cut some of the starters when they're the most recognizable and marketable. Like it just felt really awkward not to have Greninja in any Gen 8 game at all when it was literally Pokemon of the Year.
