I think it's possible but I think a Let's Go style game is more likely. All that being said I think Gen 9 releasing this year shot that ship down almost entirely.

Wouldn't you expect Johto reremakes to come out in Gen 9 though as per the pattern? Hoenn remakes were in Gen 6, Kanto reremakes were in Gen 7, and Sinnoh remakes were in Gen 8, so shouldn't Johto reremakes should be in Gen 9?

I don't think so, it will probably be on the same engine as BD/SP with the same shitty graphics and everything copy/pasted from the originals G/S (not HG/SS).
