They had a raging crush for Dawn growing up, since they were born at the time to be "that age" during Gen 4. They want to end up with their childhood crush, who to them is forever frozen in time as a cartoon child. They are therefore threatened by the idea of Ash getting with the wrong cartoon child, because this would be mean the self-inserting fucktards that were born earlier or later than them will "win" and "get" with their cartoon child by extension instead. This is why shippers lash at out at each other--they all self-insert in the same character, so their own imaginary happiness depends upon the character choosing the cartoon child they wish they themselves could marry at the expense of the other self-inserting fucktards.
