I was a little iffy on the Ultra Beasts when the were first announced, but damn I fell in love with this thing immediately. Really embodies the "otherworldly creatures" theme they were going for with UBs better than anything else.

Gens I-IV are weird for me because there were Pokemon I liked on release but there were also a lot that I didn't even consider. Gen V was the first generation where my opinions on the region's whole dex were formed pretty soon after release.

Gen VI would be Gourgeist, Gen VII would be Ribombee and Gen VIII would be Stonjourner

Ok I have to ask why. Other than the fossils, this is one of the two gen 8 Pokemon that I hate the absolute most, the other being Eiscue. When I look at it all I see is a concept down badly that was already done better by Stakataka.

I just like his dumb face, quite a few of the Pokemon I like are just Pokemon that seem to have no care in the world. Also personally I just don't like Stakataka that much, there's nothing wrong with it but it just doesn't really work for me, personally I much prefer Blacephalon. Although I do agree that Eiscue and the Fossils are fucking ugly, Eiscue (especially given some of the fanart) is clearly some massive missed potential and there is just something deeply uncomfortable and atrocious about the Galar Fossil designs for me.

The Galar fossils are supposed to be inspired by the retarded paleontologists back in the day who put bones together wrong, making creatures that never existed. The problem with the Pokemon is that they look fucking retarded.

I have found (in multiple playthroughs), that his ability is not that bad, all things considered. His stats are impressive, he usually knocks out most pokemon in one hit, learns leech life, and has enough bulk to tank a few hits before his ability activates. Even then, whenever it does activate, it's usually for my benefit.

But yeah, I agree, he would be better if he at least has a hidden ability that could make him more competitively viable (even though I don't really play comepetitive, I just like building pokemon)
