I never understood shiny hunting. Isn't the whole point that is was a sudden new strange thing? Shinies you encounter just playing around are cool because they stand out, but hunting for one is just... Put on some sunglasses if you just want it to look different.

I can't imagine wasting so much time accomplishing nothing. Not saying I do anything productive with my time anyway, but that's just because I'm lazy. Imagine having all of that motivation and energy and using it to turn a gameboy on and off.

I actually did use my dialga in BD. Normally it feels like sacrilege to use legendaries in a normal playthrough but I think it would have been more retarded not to use my shiny Dialga that only took 8 resets.

Now I will say I find PLA the most "fun" to hunt in that it doesn't feel like a waste for various reasons. But if you say that around people just whine about it being too easy or that PLA shinies don't count. If these retards want to full odds hunt they can still do that but they refuse to acknowledge that.

It's not like anyone but the hunter themselves gives a solid shit anyway. Unless you're a youtuber or twitch streamer with an audience.

In fourth gen when they first introduced shiny hunting with pokeradar chaining I thought that was the coolest thing because it was this kind of hardcore somewhat esoteric end game activity. It was at that point in time where we weren't quite at the point no return of how information soaked and games could still have secrets, or the illusion seemed there at least.

The game didn't flat out explain it players just had to figure it out and guess over time how it worked which was cool. Breeding eggs like crazy or essentially save scumming until you get your desired encounter/starter is just autismo territory. I would know since I spent a decent amount of time on the 3rd gen remakes doing both just for the chance at a Shiny charmander (which I didn't get). And I am definitely well on the spectrum.

I guess it's different desire for everyone, same as grinding out rare drops in a game, maybe. I also feel like a shiny's best appeal is randomly encountered rarity, but I might consider hunting if it was for a pokemon/shiny I really liked.
