I get it, it seems backwards to purposely nerf a pokemons attack only to patch it up with an ability afterwards, rather than just make it usable from the get go. However this is also a earlygame rodent pokemon and you can only do so much with the amount of BST they get. It's not as if it has less BST than furret or raticate. Raticate has more emphasis on speed and attack but it's likewise going to be outclassed by many other choices you can add to your party by the 2nd or 3rd gym. At least this thing gets an ability that makes it good unlike furret. Perhaps the problem is how rare GF made hidden abilities in gen 6, you wouldn't be complaining if you could get a huge power bunnelby earlygame.

but i just hate how backwards it is. diggersby feels the most shit to use ingame of all the route 1 rodents, to me at least, which sucks cause i unironically like its design. it looks like it SHOULD have 112 attack or more

they learned from the last early game rabbit completely obliterating the game

they could give a early game rodent 600 BST. Nothing is stopping them except arbitrary self imposed limitations

Can confirm, it has just enough speed, bulk, and power to feel sufficient in all those areas, aided immensely by a solid movepool, plus stab frustration/Return is really fucking powerful.

Game design isn't arbitrary, BST is a good metric to gauge a pokemon basic capabilities before factoring in how type, movepool, ability etc raises and lowers it, they likely decide BST first and then distribute the points as necessary to limit themselves from making a pokemon stronger overall than intended
