ITT: Pokemon designs you don't (or didn't) get.

I don't get why they made a steel tower a Pokemon, why it's a dragon, what he's supposed to be inspired by, or why they thought a tiny model building was a good idea for a Pokemon.

The real question is why they gave him a tower Gigantamax when one of Pokemon's first controversies was that episode where the giant Tentacruel damaged a tower, given recent real world events.

He's a steel building and a dragon because he's the ace of Raihan who is a Dragon gym leader who has a weather-based gimmick in his battle and who has the job of protecting the vault of Hammelocke's castle (which apparently is a bank according to the PokeJobs system).
Most new Pokemon in SwSh have "gameplay purpose" like Obstagoon who has a punk rock and road bloackade theme just to fit with Piers and Team Yell or Falinks who just exists because they had an idea for an overworld obstacle with it.

Aggron is just a failed Kaiju mon based on any old random Kaiju, failed bc it never became popular as they hoped and not Mechagodzilla bc it isn't straight up mechanical. Duraludon fits the bill better bc it looks like a machine and it's a Special Attacker. Mechagodzilla's kit is pretty much lasers/missile/reflectors anyway, which is stuff I don't totally picture aggron doing even though it does learn a lot of beam moves. Still wish we got Omega and that beta gorilla mon tho, because I really do believe that the Gen 1 aesthetic of everything being sort of like a kaiju was kino

I enjoy pokemon with more abstract designs and vague origin/inspiration like Duraludon. And not every monster-based design (including Aggron) have to be boiled down to just "it's a kaiju" (though its rivalry with Tyranitar is definitely an allusion to that)

These are not qualities that befit "The Life Pokémon." Everything about it screams synthetic.

Not only is it busted. It's also monotone as hell. Its playstyle has nothing to do with giving life.
