Lore-wise it makes sense that Kanto mons would be popular worldwide.

It's not as if people from IRL Britain only like animals which are native to Britain. If anything, more exotic animals are more popular (the Lion is seen as the symbol of England, Scotland and the UK as a whole for instance).

Why did British people choose an African animal (the lion) to represent them in national coat of arms, sports team symbols, political symbols, etc?
There doesn't have to be any great logic to it. Galarians simply have a liking for Pokemon that happen to be Kantonian.
