Why was Game Freak so bad at spritework? They're a multi billion company they should be able to afford good sprite artists and animators

call me crazy, but i think the reason the image in the op isn't real is because of the fact you can tap your pokemon to have them turn around instantly in the pokemon menu. Having the sudden style shift would be jarring.
Another reason is to just keep consistant with the pokemon on the other side of the field?
