GS has somewhat of a problem due to late evolutionary stones, but Crystal and HGSS honestly don't. Even in GS the problem isn't nearly as pronounced as in DP. In DP there are only two fire type lines (one being the starter Chimchar), two ice type lines despite having the most snowy routes of any region, and three electric type lines (one being Pikachu and another being the Pikaclone Pachirisu).

It was fun for a while, but then you need to do the exact same missions over and over again and then it's finally apparent how repetitive the game is.
All they needed to do was add in the 4 moves and it would have been a lot better
