i like hau. and hop. i love the edgelords like blue and silver and gladion and bede. but i don't dislike the "friend" rivals. the only gen where i hated the rivals was x/y, because serena/calem were so self pitying. and shauna and the other 2 were kinda bland and insipid. at least they tried to give hop a character arc of him getting his ass reamed by bede, then going inwards a bit, swapping his team out, but unlike serena/calem, he actually snapped out of it, and catches the opposite cover legend like a gigachad. based
