wasn't a hunt but during the week I caught pick related on FireRed. I hadn't picked up the game for a few months, my save was right next to the water path.
Half asleep/watching youtube vids I walked into the grass, and thought I heard the shine. Honestly its been that long I didn't even know if it was shiny until I checked the PC.

If you're shiny hunting in PLA, here's a handy tool for you to use

Basically, the way you despawn the first ~8 pokemon in a MMO affects the pokemon that spawn in the second horde.

For instance, if you catch every pokemon in the first horde, then reload your save and knock out every pokemon instead, the two secondary hordes will be completely different Pokemon. So this increases your chances of obtaining shiny alpha pokemon.

Best way to take advantage of this method is to find an outbreak with a star, eliminate the first set of pokemon to make sure you get an alpha horde after. If you do, reload your save then go back to the spot and save in that area. Then proceed to go down the list in the tool I linked before.

I've used it extensively and have gotten five shiny alphas so far:

catch 3 + 3v1 + catch all -> catch all - dusclops
4v1 + 4v1 -> 4v1 - heracross
2v1 + catch all - empoleon
catch 3 + ko 2 + catch all - gible
catch 1 + ko 2 + ko 2 + catch all - spiritomb

(-> denotes second horde)

Note: This method only works on aggressive pokemon. You can't do it on stuff like Cyndaquil or Rowlet, but can on Quilava and Dartrix.

Haven't been in these threads much recently so don't know if anything new has been discovered, but I'm very confused at the moment and wondering if anyone knows what happened here

So I'm hunting fixed alpha spawns in Legends, just flying around the map and checking each spot. Saved in Jubilife, entered the map, found a random shiny scyther near the grandtree. after checking the rest of the map I decided to reset and reclaim the scyther because I wanted to get some resources I'd wasted on a shinx outbreak back, so I closed the game, reloaded, went from jubilife to the map, teleported to the grandtree, and there's no shiny scyther.

not the end of the world, it was night last time maybe the spawns are different. Reloaded, went to the map, changed to night, and retraced my steps instead of teleporting this time, going back past alpha spawns on the way. No shiny.

Very confused now, I completely retraced my steps from a full reload, clearing the outbreak and checking everything, on the way to the scyther, and the fixed spawn alpha golbat that I'd already been past multiple times is now shiny, caught it, but still no shiny scyther.

Not unhappy with the Golbat instead but very confused, can the order or way you clear an outbreak change other spawns around the map or is it something to do with starting in jubilife which i don't normally do

I was coming off the back of 3 over odds hunts when it was time for a slower hunt with Skarmory, I decided to finish an old Oshawott hunt instead.
Jokes on me as now I’m heavily over odds in an ever slower hunt.

The whole map seed is set in Jubilife, so you can save in the town, enter a map, reset, enter the map again and everything will be the same, so I can only imagine it had something to do with the Shinx outbreak but this would be the first I've heard of outbreak sequence affecting the rest of the map

If you save in Jubilife, go to an area, find a shiny, then reload from Jubilife and re-enter the same area, the shiny will be gone.

Only way to preserve random shinies are to save after you enter the area.

If you save in Jubilife and go to an area that has outbreaks and there's a shiny, then reload your save from Jubilife and go back to that outbreak, the shiny will remain.

Ah neat, good to know, I figured random spawns and outbreaks would all work the same way because I've reloaded outbreaks from the village before and that worked. When I get multiple normal outbreaks I tend to go from the village and check all of them along with alpha spawns in the area until I get a shiny. Already have 2 shiny scythers and turned it into an Alpha Golbat so got very lucky really
