The SoL take was garbage which is why they backtracked in the new series. The characters are forgettable because they never get real stand out moments, they are mostly known for the controversial series they come from. Game Lillie is more liked than anime Lillie which is fucking hilarious because it’s the exact opposite with the previous female protagonist. And Ash winning the Alola League didn’t advance his character at all, because it’s treated borderline insignificant afterwards literally right after. Ash doesn’t bring up his title, no one outside of Alola actually know he’s a Champion, he doesn’t get any benefits from being the Alola Champion, and in the same fucking series he almost lost to Kiawe just a couple days after he won the League.
