Oh, never. I replay Gale of Darkness with my cousin yearly when he comes to visit with our family for a week, actually. It's really fun still, such a quality game. Quality stays quality, with a few exceptions very early into gaming's lifespan.

Yeah! That really could be it. Part of it is community, gotta have a community to play with. That's a big part of that childhood wonder, but so is actually playing the games. I think it's very easy to get jaded and hateful towards the game spending your time on 4chan, not actually experiencing the games again and deciding for yourself.

Lastly, a lot of games start slow. Just power through.
