Gamefaqs user 11 years ago complaining that Mt. Coronet was too difficult. Was it really seen like that back in the day?

It's not difficult just extremely boring and poorly designed. Walking through hallways while seeing Golbat for the 57th time and then clicking A in front of a rock smash boulder isn't fun gameplay.

The actual roadblock that stumped me back then was a Strength puzzle in 2F of Victory Road, of all things

Yes, apparently Japanese kids had a really hard time with Mt. Coronet. Maybe the Rock Climb part at the top is "hard" because you can go up and down things that lead to the same spot, but it takes maybe 30 seconds to get back on course.

I never had a problem getting through it or thought it was ever tedious, and never understood people who did. I just had fun exploring and to this day have no clue why people couldn't handle it, despite replaying it a few months back.

It's not difficult, but like the water half of Hoenn, it's boring and filled with the same 2 pokemon except worse because there are limited fishing/diving encounters and the like

I'll just say the ugly truth that everybody is too scared to admit.
Pokemon dungeons are fucking boring. The novelty wore off after gen 1 and every dungeon in every single subsequent game has been an exercise in monotony and inarguably the WORST parts of the games they're in. Difficult? No. Tedious as fuck and makes a kid want to put the game down forever? Yes.

And lastly whoever designed Twist Mountain needs to be dragged into a burning building and shot

I dunno about hard or difficult or whatever but ice path did take me a little while to figure out. Mt Coronet I'm pretty sure I just put the game down for a few days every time I got bored there
I dunno I like seafoam islands but all the others are kinda meh?

caves are tedious, and there's way too many of them in sinnoh with nearly the same pokemon in them, not to mention someone on the dev team had a hardon for using rock smash.
Also I swear the gen 4 games have a super high encounter rate, and when you have to stop to use another repel every minute, that wasted time adds up
