Both are psychic clairvoyant feminine humanlike creatures who appear to wear dresses. However, Gardevoir uses a bright color scheme, while Gothitelle uses a dark color scheme.
Both have body parts which enhance their psychic powers. Gardevoir have their horns, Gothitelle have their bows.
Gardevoir uses clairvoyance to protect the trainer. Gothitelle uses clairvoyance to see the lifespan of the trainer, but is more fatalistic and just cries over it.
Both Gardevoir and Gothitelle seem otherworldly. Gothita talks to some entity which nobody else can see. Gothitelle’s line sees the future using the stars. Kirlia projects visions of another world, a “paradise”, possibly the true homeworld of the Gardevoir. Ralts’ name may be a partial anagram for “astral”.
Part of Gardevoir’s theme is emotionally bonding with others. Gothitelle has this too, but a more unhealthy version of it. Gothita fixates on people and Pokemon, and Gothorita befriends children by hypnotizing them.
Gardevoir protects people “with good hearts” according to their Japanese dex entries, like a guardian angel. Gothitelle is implies to punish or destroy those who are bad. Somehow, Gothorita came to be known as “the Witch of Punishment”. Gothitelle made “a criminal” disappear, presumably killing him.
Gardevoir protects the innocent, Gothitelle eradicates the wicked. They’re sister species.
