So, at first I thought that ground-types were Pokemon that utilized the ground in a unique and essential way.
E.g. they may live in the ground, bury themselves or dig through.
This makes sense for Pokemon like Diglett, Sandslash and Excadrill.
Then you have Pokemon who have absolutely fucking nothing to do with ground as an element:

>Rhydon -> Rhyhorn
>Nidoking
>Nidoqueen
>Phanpy -> Donphan
>Swinub -> Piloswine -> Mamoswine
