Yeah, they were as easily available as the english ones back then. At least starting from around the Gen 3 days in my personal experience.
Before that, I played the "vietnamese" Gold one too.

Had a girlfriend who claimed to learn
english mainly because when she first moved here from Cuba she was playing pokemon and had to learn what the words meant as she went along. She was cool, she got me into pokemon again because I only played gen 1 and then stopped, but I went and played gen 2-4 before gen 5 came out because she was so into it.

Simple: good old trial and error. RBY weren't that hard but the one roadblock that comes from not knowing english is entering Saffron City because there's a hint about the guards being thirsty and literally the ONLY way i found out about this was me randomly buying and keeping the drink items, i then told my brothers and then they told whoever that got filtered by that.

Which is funny in retrospective because i fondly remember how we could beat every gym but not Sabrina because we could not bypass the guards and tried to speak to every, single, available NPC

Fuera de eso, sí suele haber bastantes nombres buenos de todos modos, Mostaz es una buena traducción, Nerio le queda bien, Naboru es mucho mejor nombre que Kabu en mi opinión, Sófora le queda bien a Klara. No son a gusto de todos, pero muchos de los nombres traducidos son buenas elecciones.

Mmm, ahora que lo dices, supongo que desde el principio lo tomé como que era la clasificación que Aether le había dado, un nombre código, en especial con eso de que le dicen "Código: Ómina" a la supuesta forma perfecta. Dentro del contexto del juego y su historia le queda el nombre, lo cual a mi entender es el caso tanto en inglés como en japonés.

Nobody uses "mote" to talk about nicknames in latam, only "apodo". In fact, Bolivia and Perú use "mote" to talk about a certain species of corn. Latam spanish is way different than iberic spanish.

Todos los juegos tienen data anterior(si no seria mas dificil hacer los juegos compatibles entre si). dexit es solamente que no te dejan acceder a algunas de esas. SWSH tambien trackea pokemon que no estan en la dex de Galar, si no proba moviendo un legendario de Go a una partida de SWSH en la que no lo capturaste.

I’m Dutch and we never got translations for videogames (or most kid entertainment like cartoons, we only got subs for those) back in the 90s and 00s when I was a kid, so I learned English through vidya.

German is a different language from Dutch. I played games in English, because that's what we got here. DBZ was never dubbed here as far as I know. Germans are notorious dubbers however, they even dub over Hollywood movies and tv series and shit.

I went to disneyland and universal studios a few years ago, it made me notice that i really have an accent when i speak english but it was really nice because i got to speak with people from different parts of the world and they had funny accents too, the only real problem was when i talked to a black american guy i could not understand shit, black people from my country can speak clear english but black americans are weird for whatever reason they don't have good grammar when they speak and they do it too fast
