Yeah, but it is pretty hard for me to figure good names, occasionally having to use name generators.
Last 'mons i named are a Roserade named Baronesa (Baroness in spanish) and the free Riolu that got from Riley i named him "HMfemboi2" (Bidoof is the original HMfemboy)

I threw a quick ball at the Necrozma from UM, caught it with no issue, checked its catch rate, found out it's fucking 255, and named it "lmao255".

Usually unless it is my first palythrough of a generation. Sometimes when naming though it takes me a long time to think of a cleverish name for the mon so some playthroughs I don't bother.

I name them for the sake of creating a narrative. Gamefreak isn't gonna give the game a story, might as well do it myself. Usually, I just pick a theme for the team's names and only catch 6 pokemon throughout the whole run, which means the theme doesn't dry up.
My last six pokemon were Insomniac, Argon, Mirage, Dacad, Meraence, and Shouting

One time as a child I did a playthrough of Blue where I simply name my Pokemon a letter going up in the alphabet whenever I got a pokemon. So my starter was "A", the first thing I caught was "B" and so on. I realised this was a bad idea when I went to change my party and remembered gen 1 doesn't show you the sprite of the pokemon in the box, and I couldn't remember what "H" or "J" etc were so I had to simply keep guessing until I withdrew the pokemon I wanted.
