Where BW have stops to do story bits, where the interactions dont usually last more than two minutes worth of average reading, S/M have to literally stop EVERYTHING, fade to black, fade-in a cutscenes, and then do a whole lot of animations and dialogue, with a bunch of haha oh-so-funny Malasada-Hau moments layered on top, fade out, and then fade-in to resume gameplay, and then repeat this process every few hundred steps you take in the main campaign.
BW didn't really interrupt the flow of the game, while SM took every opportunity to show cutscenes and Game Freaks prowess as a small indie company.
