If Home lets you place it in then it's considered legal. Don't worry about it. The worse that can happen is the game notifying you that you aren't able to transfer that Pokemon due to some reason. If it's something like an illegal move you can just change it unless there's something messed up like Met Location or Pokeball or shit, but since it was cleared up as legal to be sent over online through wonder trade then you're fine

Battle Tower pretty much keeps your progress to a degree. So if you win enough your rank goes up but if you lose you must start again from your latest rank if my understanding is correct.

So when you reach masterball rank where you can earn a ribbon if you lose against the champ you only need to fight 10 battle to have a rematch instead of 50.

Also you get berry rewards simply by doing 100 matches.

Basically earning the ribbon for beating champ doesn't harshly punish you for losing. You simply must fight 10 trainers before a rematch or something around that number

Battle Tower is essentially a ranked battle tutorial and isn't that hard/fun. I highly recommend Restricted Sparring from Isle of Armor after you clear it and reach Master Rank. Not only do you gain more BP compared to the Battle tower, getting 3 per win instead of 2, you also get 20BP every 5 wins. Plus it's just more fun due to being restricted to a single type each run.

Also I'd recommend doing this offline, you won't get in trouble but it's annoying for other people to see raids in the Y-Comm only for them to not be joinable since you closed them. When you get good at it you can do like 3 resets a minute. Also if you have the DLC you can farm Nature Mints, just fyi even though you don't have it. Have all the Berries and Watts you need

3ds/dsi setup process is the same, you just need to change dns settings if the console is already connected to wi-fi

I joined a level 4 Archen that wound up being shiny.
Popped right out of the Nest Ball.
I am immensely disappointed but I guess that's my fault since I'd really only done a few rounds of that cave thing in the Crown Tundra where it's autocapture and assumed it would be the same.
