It may been robbed of Y Version, but honestly SM did a lot to bring make it get back its space, even if it was in the background, Dynamax was also basically made for its Power Construct and it just got a Cute Girl trainer in Masters. I would not be surprised if it is the most popular of its Trio these days.
I mean, think about Zamazenta for instance that has little chance of a "redemption arc" of the same scale and will canonically be trained by fucking Hop, Or Luvdisc. Or Zorua/Zoroark needing event mons to even be available and having their gimmick hindered by team preview (Introduced the same gen they were). Zygarde is eating pretty well compared to pokemon in such situations.
