Even if you believe this, gen 6 is clearly WAYYYY easier than any previous game, and hell, even easier than gen 7. Gens 3, 4, and 5 all had challenging battles that required me to grind at least a bit, and even a lot before the elite 4. Gen 6 literally had me out leveling the gym leaders without even trying, which should NEVER happen

XY was much easier, no matter how low the cutoff for "easy" starts.

All of those are gimped versions of whatever you're comparing in Emerald, as well as being severely outclassed by games prior to Kalos. Emerald had a lot for its time, meaning more postgame content than previous games. Platinum did this too. HGSS did this too. B2W2 did this too, with BW having more postgame content than most other previous first versions. XY not beating any of those out is a sad truth.

First off, you're mentioning remakes and third versions, which isn't what this is about. X and Y are supposed to be brand new games.
Secondly, the point is that these Kanto mons (and Lucario) are given to you as part of the main story. It doesn't matter if you can catch previous Pokémon in the wild, that's fine, but the stor should focus on new Pokémon

This is like quantifiably untrue.

When you have Gen 6 'mons now consistently topping popularity polls, then you have to ask if Kalos was actually forgettable or if (You) just didn't like the game. Maybe having a small roster of well designed monsters was actually a good idea, instead just adding more bloat to a series pushing into 1000 characters.

There was a-lot of effort put into the design of this tiny roster. It's a quality > quantity dex to be sure. Kalos mons being fewer in number also makes them rarer and more novel when you're traveling.

I understand why they gave starters to NPCs in DPPt (because you need to have seen all Sinnoh Pokemon to continue to the postgame), but I don't think starters are supposed to be native. They're supposed to be foreign. That's why they are rare and given as gifts.

It's clear Kalos relied on nostalgia rather new "new thing is cool", because it wasn't.

In XY you can get as many Sylveons as you want. In DP you can't even get Leafeon and Glaceon until the postgame because the Dex needed to be 151 to honor Kanto.

All that and they STILL managed to put out successful new characters. Best of both worlds, really. Old fans get a nice trip down memory lane, new fans get legendary 'mons like pic related.

I only replied because I saw a mention of Eeveelutions and in my opinion Sinnoh Pokemon were indeed shafted (apart from very small selection of ubiquitous one like Starly, Bidoof, and Buizel) more than Kalos Pokemon due to 10th anniversary Kanto pandering and terrible gimmicks (Honey Trees), with Glaceon and Leafeon being the worst offenders.
Non-legendary Sinnoh Pokemon not available in DP (comparison to Platinum is unfair, since Platinum is a third version) until the postgame:
Rotom
Gliscor
Probopass
Gallade
Lickilicky
Leafeon
Glaceon
Togekiss
Magnezone
Tangrowth
Rhyperior
Dusknoir
Porygon-Z
Electivire
Magmortar
Mamoswine
Froslass
Does any other Gen have so many new Pokemon missing from its regional Dex? No. And Leafeon and Glaceon are the most egregious example, since you come across the Moss Rock and Ice Rock while traveling through the region but can't even make use of it until you've already beaten the Champion, filled out the regional Dex, and spoken to Bebe in Hearthome. Why not use the GTS, you may ask? In Gen 4 and 5 you can't request a Pokemon that has not been previously seen. So you'll basically need to enter another player's friend code into your PalPad and trade privately. They didn't even fix this problem in BDSP. So Sinnoh basically has these rocks as reminders of how garbage a region it is.
