>>49962949 Nationalist factions: Fascists (Falange, though some of them were national syndicalists), Traditionalists (Carolists), the Nationalist Army (Sanjurjo, then Mola, and finally Franco) and the Church (they had their own interests and the major part of the francoist Censorship came from them). Germans and Italians didn’t meddle in nationalist factionalism.
Republican factions: The Government (actually tried to win the war and unite all of the other republican factions), the Communists, the Communist Syndicates, the Anarchists and their syndicate, Galician nationalists (didn’t even fight), Basque nationalists (some of them collaborated with the enemy, because of the Church), Soviet advisors and commissars, and Catalan nationalists (turned cloaks as soon as Franco actually entered catalan territory). The International Brigades were irrelevant in most battles.
The Republic lost the war because of political factionalism.
