>>49966299Having alternate transformation forms is becoming a common theme for legendaries now; Black/White Kyurem, Dawn/Dusk Necrozma, Crowned Zac/Zam, Calyrex riding it's steeds, etc. and if you count forms added in later games, at least one of the main legendaries from every generation except Gen 2 now has some kind of special alternate form (Mega Mewtwo, Primal Kyogre/Groudon, Origin Dialga/Palkia and 100% Zygarde).
And just glancing at this list, there are several references to entities or concepts with 9 different forms:

Since the 9 Worthies are broken down into 3 groups of 3 and it being the least asian of the three examples above, I can imagine something that tangentially relates to the concept without being explicitly referencing them specifically.
