>>49967349I agree with everything you've said here and have some things to add to the list of disappointments, but I’m not going to write all of that out.
Instead, I'm just going to summarize my feelings about this game with two words:no soul.
I've dubbed this game Pokemon: Lifeless Arceus - because that’s what it is to me. Lifeless. Lacking heart and soul. I wanted to like it, I really did. But as a long-time fan of the series, my feelings are literallyhurtby the developer's seemingly lack of passion for Pokemon as a whole.
I get the impression that the devs are truly disconnected from any of the things Pokemon fans love about the series.
My favorite Pokemon game of all time - while not exactly a mainline game - is the newest Snap. Everything about that game screamed passion from the developers.
The graphics, the artistic style, the Pokémon personalities, and environment interactions. All the small hidden details, the OST, the vibrancy of the environments, and the special care they took to ensure players actually feelimmersedin the world of Pokémon. The story was a bit lacking but overall the theme was well executed.
I know it’s a game on rails but the point I’m making is that they really put in 110% effort to deliver a great game to the fans of the series and it speaks for itself.
I’m glad people are enjoying the new game but as someone who loves Pokémon, Gamefreak isn’t giving this franchise the care or consideration it deserves.
You can like the gameandexpress disappointment with it. Those things aren't mutually exclusive and it's disingenuous and limiting to self-growth if we are always thinking in absolutes.
