Imagine Gen 2, great games really and beloved by all.
Not without their faults but no major games are.
Then imagine if instead of Gens 3/4, Johto got remade again on modern hardware (HGSS). The fans don't mind this as again they are good games with some nice improvements. It's a great time to replay Johto in anticipation for the next instalment.
Now imagine HGSS is then re-rereleased for the next 5 years, the only additions being ideas from rom hacks that are worth putting in an official product.
That is Pokémon run by Todd Howard.
