If a Let's Go Johto game ever gets released they will use Lyra's HGSS design. If a Generations/Evolutions-esque animation releases featuring the Johto feMC, it will use Lyra's HGSS design.
The Crystal design is outdated, not a separate character.

Keep Lyra as her own character, If you play as Kris then Ethan doesn't show up and vice versa, that or you repurpose Kris into a second rival that takes the last remaining gen 2 starter.
