Time Capsule. I clone everything I send to another gen because it feels wrong to treat my old playthrough as 'throwaway' and looking through an empty save is depressing, but then I feel like it ruins the uniqueness of my Pokémon. If they still had this in the games I'd never clone anything and treat it as one distinct Pokémon.
