>>49976453i do replay gen 1 now, but a lot of people won't and i totally get that. they're not "literally unplayable" and apparently the average pokémon fan doesn't know what that means, but functionally they had a lot of problems, and by the time RS came out, game freak had not finessed the formula massively but pretty much everything was above board, hence the remake. gf probably weren't intending pokémon to be quite so popular when they made gen 1, it took them fucking years because they lost so much content to data crashes and they were using tech that was obsolete even then, hence why they make a remake so early on. it just made good sense
