My favorite part of XY's leak season was watching people completely miss Froakie's "agile Japanese thief" theming and come up with all these terrible fake evos that fell into the "It Just Gets Bigger" pitfall while simultaneously ignoring the entire point of the original design.

That doesn't matter because after that, Pokemon's overall design aesthetic in creating starters changed. To use that as an excuse is old and antiquated
