I need help, I feel no excitement towards this new upcoming gen, and I was hoping this feeling would change. I felt excitement for Sword and Shield, because it was the first time we were getting a mainline pokemon game that was technically on a console cause you could play it on the tv. And of course, only after I bought the games, because I didn't believe what people were saying, did reality start to sink in, causing all of my excitement to die off. The lack of number of trainers to fight. The dex cut. Being locked out of catching pokemon of certain levels during a time where you would have to be a pretty great trainer to pull off such a feat anyways. The always on exp share causing the smallest trainer battles to jump your whole team up two or three levels at a time. The whole situation just felt bad. Then the Diamond Pearl remakes hit, and the game was made much easier then even its original versions. And now Arceus. I wanted to like it, I wanted to believe it would save me, restore my faith in the series at last. But the more of the game I watch, the more footage I see, the more uninterested I become. I don't even think my "unreasonable demands" are that bad, all it would take to restore my faith in this franchise for the new generation games is just 1, bring back the national dex, 2, either lose the exp share option or at least double or triple the amount of trainers then and reduce the exp to make up the difference, and finally 3, give us another region for the post game, literally just fucking recycle a past region for the post game and put stuff in it, its not hard to do, its been done before. If they really want to make a "ambitious" pokemon mainline game, THAT is how you do it. But no, I am very depressed, and I really do believe they think open world is ambitious when this will be the THIRD TIME its been done (Sword/Shield, Arceus, Scarlet/Violet)
