Can someone make sense of this tweet? Feels like I'm having a stroke. Aren't all microtransactions hidden inside more expensive products, AKA the game itself? How is that a macro transaction

The context of the tweet thread appears to be that locking something like Arceus behind a save for a separate 60 dollar game is equal to if not way worse than a standard micro transaction of "pay 5.99 to get the Arceus dlc". I think their point gets kind of muddled because they don't super seem to care about the very basic annoyance of "we want you to buy two games to get all the pokemon" or mythical distribution because it's common enough to get those as if the problem here is how rare it will be to acquire an Arceus if you so choose to and not the inherent issue of it being locked behind that save on an indivual level.

She/they/xir/xer is talking about what they've been doing in the Switch era where you get stuff if you got a save file of one of the previous Pokemon games, like Gigantamax Pikachu and Eevee in SwSh or Darkrai in Legends. They don't do this for any of their games outside of Pokemon which means it's not Nintendo but rather a Gamefreak thing.

You picked the worst example you could think of unless you were alluding to how it works in BotW. Either way Nintendo hasn't locked substantial content behind amiibo since what, Samus Returns 4 and a half years ago? Anything beyond that has been shortcuts to content, cosmetics or power ups that you can get through normal progression or superflous perks that would have gone under the radar if it werent for their relation to amiibo. You could maybe argue Pokemon falls under the first category since you can trade for Darkrai or Arceus no problem but that can be put into question since progression does not guarantee you will gain access to them.

She has publicly complained about that too in a recent tweet. It seems she's gotten fed up with GF's BS.
