I like exploring, building a team. But all these games are so easy that it isn't engaging and tell the exact same story since the GBA:
>8 gyms, elite 4, Champion; all easily swept.>Evil team will use [BOX ART LEGENDARY] and you foil them>You are 10 year old that will learn about "love and friendship" by first picking a fire, water, grass type pet.Post games like battle frontiers, give actual challenge and encourage team building; frontier brains being goals to work towards and having different "game modes" for each frontier brain can break up the monotony.
As to why we don't see the battle frontier these days?...Kids don't want to grind, they don't want to breed until the right nature, they don't want to beat 20 random trainers in a row only to lose to RNG.
Kids want to build a team of what they like and go on an adventure with them and like it or not, they're the target audience.
